Hedgehog Rescue Blackpool

In 2015 Jean began helping sick and injured Hedgehogs in her home on a very small scale. This continued for around a year, Jean helped as many Hedgehog’s as she could but she saw that so many more needed her help.

So, after a year of helping Hedgehogs, Jean decided to invest her own money in specialised equipment which enabled her to expand. This increased the number of Hedgehog’s that could benefit from Jean’s love and care. Since then, she has continued to invest her time and money into the Hedgehog’s and has gained a team of fantastic volunteers and fosterers that have provided additional support with the ever increasing number of Hedgehogs the Rescue helps.

The Rescue continues to grow, it currently includes a number of high quality homes for the Hedgehogs, heat pads, incubators and other specialised equipment that is necessary to provide high quality and suitable care for these endangered animals.

​ In 2017, the rescue took in 121 hedgehogs; and 314 in 2018. In 2019, that number increased to 545 And then 2020, with all that has occurred, to date we have managed to help 503 of our prickly friends.

The 24th February 2020, was the day we officially became a registered charity. Continuing to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the rescue and rehabilitation of local Hedgehogs.
